Careful Greenwich moves, handled with heritage

We move houses, period terraces, conversions and riverside flats across SE10 and the Royal Borough. Georgian staircases, conservation-street parking, concierge loading bays on the Peninsula — the awkward parts are the parts we plan first.

Why this is not a generic move

Greenwich moves, handled with care

SE10 is two towns wearing one postcode. A Georgian terrace off Crooms Hill and an apartment on the Peninsula are different jobs with different risks, and quoting them the same way is how removal firms end up apologising.

The old town

Period streets that were never built for a Luton

  • Georgian and Regency terraces where the hall is narrower than the front door suggests and the staircase turns twice before the first landing.
  • Conservation-area streets with resident permits and no driveways. Bay suspensions go in early, and where the council cannot suspend we plan a shuttle instead.
  • Visitor traffic between the Cutty Sark, the market and the park gates, which decides what time a van can realistically be at the kerb.
  • Sash windows and original plaster, both of which mark far more easily than anyone expects. Corners get padded before the first box moves.

The river

Modern blocks with rules of their own

  • Service lifts that need booking well ahead, and occasionally a deposit held by the managing agent.
  • Loading bays with a time limit and a goods entrance that is rarely the door shown on the map.
  • Concierge sign-in, insurance documents sent in advance, and buildings that restrict moving to particular hours.
  • Long internal runs from bay to lift to flat — the reason a Peninsula move takes longer than the same volume in a terrace.

The hills are real

Maze Hill, Westcombe Park and the streets rising from the river all fall away sharply. Vehicles get chocked and loads get strapped differently. This is not fussiness; it is what stops a wardrobe travelling on its own.

Antiques and pictures get cases

Gilt frames, mirrors, marble tops and anything with a veneer travel in purpose-made cases rather than under a blanket. A great deal of what leaves Greenwich houses genuinely needs it.

Two boroughs meet on the heath

Blackheath sits across the Greenwich and Lewisham boundary. We work the Greenwich side properly and will happily say when a job belongs with a firm based on the other.

How a move runs

Four things we do every single time

All services
First

We survey before we price

In person for houses, on a video walk-round for smaller jobs. We look at your staircase, your street and the same two things at the address you are moving to.

Second

We sort the access paperwork

Bay suspensions with the council, lift bookings with the building, insurance documents to the managing agent. All of it before the date rather than on it.

Third

We pack what deserves packing

Cases for pictures and mirrors, tissue for glass, wardrobe cartons for hanging clothes. You can pack the rest yourself or hand us the lot.

Last

We finish the job properly

Furniture rebuilt where you want it, boxes in the room on the label, packaging taken away. Nobody leaves until you have walked the place.

The standard

Four words instead of four statistics

Surveyed
Both addresses looked at before a price exists.
Written
Crew, vehicle, materials and scope, on paper.

Coverage

Greenwich and the Royal Borough

SE10 is home ground and SE3 and SE7 are a short run. The rest of the Royal Borough we reach comfortably — though where a neighbouring town has removal firms who work it daily, we will say so rather than pretend otherwise.

Greenwich

SE10

Georgian and Regency terraces, Victorian conversions, and the town-centre flats behind the market.

Conservation-area streets where the front door is the oldest thing in the building. Narrow halls, original staircases, and loading that has to work around the visitor traffic between the Cutty Sark and the park gates.

Greenwich Peninsula

SE10

Modern riverside apartments — Millennium Village, New Capital Quay and the newer blocks along the river path.

The opposite problem entirely: concierges, booked service lifts, timed loading bays and a goods entrance that is rarely the one on the map. We confirm the building rules before the date, not on it.

Blackheath

SE3

Grand period houses on the heath edge, Victorian terraces in the village, and garden flats behind them.

The heath edge is exposed and the village streets are tight. Blackheath straddles two boroughs, so we work the Greenwich side and share the rest with the Lewisham firms who know it.

Westcombe Park

SE3

Edwardian and Victorian family houses on the slope down towards the river.

Long front paths, tiled steps, and streets that fall away sharply. Vans get chocked properly here; a Luton on a Westcombe gradient is not something to improvise.

Maze Hill

SE10

Period terraces and conversions running up the east side of Greenwich Park.

Steep, parked solid, and narrow at the top end. This is the part of SE10 where we most often plan a shuttle from a suspended bay lower down the hill.

Charlton

SE7

Interwar semis, Victorian terraces around the village, and newer closes towards the river.

Easier access than the SE10 core — driveways exist — but the village roads around the church are one-way and unforgiving, and the A102 slip roads dictate what time we start.

What each area actually involves

Plain dealing

Three things you will not find here

How we work
We do not show star ratings we have not earned
This is a young brand. When there are real reviews from real Greenwich customers, they will appear here with somewhere you can go and check them. Until then, nothing.
We do not quote a price down the phone
Anyone who prices your move from a room count alone is guessing, and the guess gets corrected on the day when you have no choice. We look first.
We do not take a job we are wrong for
A move that sits squarely in a neighbouring town, a car that needs a transporter, a piano down four flights of Georgian stairs that genuinely will not take it — we will tell you, and say who can.

The questions we get first

More of them on the FAQ page, including storage, customs and what we will not put in the van.

Can you park on a conservation-area street in Greenwich?

Sometimes, and where we cannot we arrange a bay suspension with the Royal Borough on your behalf and build the notice period into the plan. A handful of streets around the old town will not take a Luton at all, in which case we shuttle from the nearest workable point and tell you that at quote stage rather than on the morning.

Do you move period furniture and pictures properly?

Gilt frames, mirrors, marble tops and anything veneered travel in purpose-made cases rather than under a blanket. A good share of what leaves Greenwich houses needs it, so it is part of how we quote rather than an extra we mention later.

What about the apartment blocks on the Peninsula?

Those need the building on side before the date. Service lift booked, loading window confirmed, insurance documents with the managing agent, and the right goods entrance identified — which is rarely the one shown on the map. We handle that correspondence for you.

How do you work out what a move costs?

Volume, distance, access and how much packing you want us to do. Access carries more weight in SE10 than almost anywhere: a second-floor conversion with a turning staircase takes longer than a ground-floor flat holding the same furniture.

Do you cover Blackheath and Charlton as well?

Yes. SE3 and SE7 are a short run and we work them regularly. Blackheath sits across the Greenwich and Lewisham boundary, so we take the Greenwich side and are happy to point you at a Lewisham-based firm when a job clearly belongs with them.

Moving in or out of Greenwich?

Send us the two addresses and a rough idea of what is coming. We will arrange to look at the access properly and come back with something written.
